Cargo Securement Trip Inspection Checklist
Plan pre-departure and en-route securement checks and record adjustments made during the trip.
Who It’s For
Truck drivers and fleets transporting property.
How to Use It
Use with the rules for your cargo type and the securement equipment manufacturer’s instructions. Inspect from safe positions; this is a trip-check record, not a tiedown-count or working-load-limit calculator. Document any applicable inspection exception.
What’s Included
- Before-trip securement checks
- Federal en-route inspection timing
- Adjustment and exception log
The en-route provisions in 392.9(b) have an exception for a sealed vehicle ordered not to be opened for inspection, or a load whose manner of loading makes inspection impracticable. This is not a blanket exemption from safe loading and securement.
